There are inspirational people walking among us. People who come into our lives and light a spark we didn’t know we had. You’ve got one of those, right? A human pillar of inspiration? Someone who moved you? Changed you? Motivated you to do or be something different and profound? (If you don’t, shame. That’s sad. Homework: GO FIND ONE.)
And guess what else? You can be one of those people. You may even be one already. If lighting flames in people’s hearts is your aim, here are our 5 Tips for Inspiring People:
1. Show you care.
The world is full of selfish people. People who go about their lives doing things for themselves and not paying attention to others. These people aren’t inspiring. You know who is? People who care. Those who pay attention and show others that they’re important.
2. Be positive.
It’s been proven that people respond best to positive affirmation. For example, people perform best when their leaders affirm the things they do well, rather than poke their weaknesses. This isn’t rocket science, but sometimes you just need a reminder… Compliment people, look on the bright side, and just like the old adage says, ‘If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything.’
3. Be consistent.
You can tell a lot about someone’s character by the way they treat people who are a) different from them or b) can’t do anything for them. The most inspiring people treat everyone with the same level of respect, no matter who they are.
4. Be enthusiastic.
The most inspiring people are the infectiously enthusiastic. They’re bright, happy and excited about life. They make you want to see the world with the same radiant optimism.
5. Be honest.
The most inspiring people those you can trust to tell you the truth. They’re not afraid to give constructive feedback if you ask for it. Plus, they don’t lie to themselves either. They are genuine individuals who don’t adopt a façade to suit those around them.
Bottom line? We all need someone to ignite a little love/passion/light inside of us. And if you can pay it forward by being one of those people for others, the world will be a slightly better place. Go on: share the love. Be the inspiration you want to see in the world.
